Few months ago, we launched SteamUp, an Imaginact initiative dedicated to empowering young people with relevant skills that will enable them (young people) prepare for the future of work and globalization. For the project under the SteamUp initiative, we offered a free design class for teens who do not have access to PC but mobile phones. To increase our reach and impact, we collaborated with awesome brands who are interested in the same goal as driving impact. We partnered with The Innovative Child Network, Teens World Empowerment, Tech Skills Hack and DesignIT for the program and we reached over 400+ clicks on the registration link from 17 countries and we got 300+ signs up. 150+ of those who registered also joined the tutorship while others got the tutorials.
Imaginact also gave out free data to some teens who faced challenges with accessing the class because of data issues. The program started on January 6th and ended on January 11. We still offer tutorship to teens who are interested in learning more. Our founder, Isaac Somto tutored and guided the class while Ali Ajagbe from DesignIT guided some participants who faced some issues and acted as a moderator. We’ll be launching more programs under the SteamUp initiative soon and we can’t wait to see the impacts we’ll drive with the initiative.
